I can’t quite explain why I am currently dreaming about spring. Perhaps it’s the generous dose of sunshine that Chicago has, quite inexplicably, gotten over the past few days. Perhaps it’s dreaming and trying to plan various trips for the near future. Or perhaps it’s simply that spring is one of my favorite seasons and it’s almost here. Almost. At least, the stores seem to think so.
I am currently coveting a lot of wonderful items. I have come into my own in terms of work attire and casual attire and have really begun to enjoy a more mature wardrobe (with little bits of young, fun and feminine sprinkled throughout).
Let’s begin with Ann Taylor. Take this shift dress, for our first example:

Silk Flower Animal Print Sheath Dress from Ann Taylor
It’s silk, so I’m sold for touch-factor alone. Yes, I’m a snob and proud of it. Second, I love the abstract print, the luxury of off-white mixed with purple and gray and the fact that paired with a grey blazer or black heels or both, it brings feminine whimsy to the office while being completely appropriate for work – especially when you add a cardigan.
Along the same lines as the dress is this silk top, also from Ann Taylor:
I love the sleeve detailing. Enough said.
Now, lest you think that I want my wardrobe to be entirely filled with Ann Taylor (and you may be correct), I have also found myself besotted with this simple dress from Ralph Lauren:
Sure, it seems plain, aside from the rouching on the sleeves (which I adore). But I happen to think about this dress as the LGD, or little grey dress, and I happen to love them. Add that this particular one is made from a mix of cashmere, silk and cotton, and I’m sold.Isn’t this easy office chic? And it takes five minutes in the morning (or less!)
Now, for something I covet and will likely not buy:
Oh D&G. How I have a torrid love-affair with you. I love the drama, the ease; also it reminds me of the Rachel McAdams Vogue cover (which I will re-post for good measure). And it reminds me of Malena. All of these are very good things.
Let’s travel into the world of DVF for a few short moments, shall we? Currently coveting:
I almost feel like there’s no need for editorializing, but I shall do so anyhow. I love the colors. And the cut. And when it goes on 75% off sale at Bloomingdales, I shall buy it. That is all.
Finally, I’ll end my Spring Fling with a look from Banana Republic, my staple for all things Petite:
I like this silk pink dress because it reminds me of fun. I can’t quite explain why, but it does. And I’m just in a spring mood.
A plus,
Petite et Belle.

Love that DVF dress! Great picks.
Thanks!
I just don’t get the aesthetic of a “strapless” dress (very nice) with straps.
Haha… I didn’t even think about that when writing it! But you have a great point – my guess is that the straps are detachable, but why the picture shows straps I couldn’t answer.
I’ve always thought those “detachable” straps just looked like bra straps…
My thoughts exactly…
